Libby Dam project employees manage, operate and maintain the dam, powerhouse, recreation areas, and Visitor Center. They also manage the water resources of Lake Koocanusa, a geographic area that receives over 300,000 visitors a year. Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Intern Program.
The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.
The Department of the Army Pathways Interns may be converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Interns must:
Be a U.S. Citizen
Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
Complete their degree or certificate requirements
Meet the Office of Personnel Management''s qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant''s Agreement, and;
Perform their job successfully as documented through performance evaluations and/or completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Applicants must be enrolled at least half time at an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
5 DAYS/WEEK, 8HRS/DAY 9:30 -6:00 PM MUST BE AVAILABLE WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS Must be 16 years of age by 1 MAY 2014. Will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement. Wearing and maintaining a prescribed uniform is required. You will
Assist tour guides with public tours
Keep log of visitor counts, collect survey data, inspect equipment for safety
Work with senior rangers at the Visitor Center and provide assistance to visitors by handing out brochures, and answering visitor questions
Help maintain interpretive exhibits and equipment
Assist in minor maintenance repair activities such as gathering tools, cleaning up work sites, carrying supplies
Use basic hand tools and perform ground maintenance such as raking, debris pickup, trimming bushes, digging, etc.
Clean facilities and police recreation areas for cleanliness
Assist Rangers with visitor assistance duties at recreation areas and the visitor center.
There is no work or volunteer experience required at the GS-01 level.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

At the time of appointment, applicants must be enrolled in an accredited high school, college, or university for a minimum of half-time and remain in that status for the duration of the internship. Spring 2014 graduates must provide summer or fall enrollment verification.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
